AI & Patient Care
Your Diagnosis Is Made by a Doctor — Not an Algorithm.
Last Update: August 2026
Artificial intelligence is changing nearly every industry, including healthcare. Used responsibly, technology can be an extraordinary tool. But at Concierge Podiatry & Spa, technology does not replace the physician-patient relationship.
When you come to us with a foot or ankle problem, your diagnosis is not simply generated by an AI program or based on an algorithm's interpretation of your symptoms.
Your care is personal. Your diagnosis is made by your treating medical provider.
Experience Still Matters
Dr. Ivar Roth has spent more than 40 years treating foot and ankle conditions. During that time, diagnostic technology has advanced dramatically—but one principle has remained the same:
Before you treat a condition, you need to understand what is actually causing it.
Two patients can have symptoms that look remarkably similar and have very different underlying conditions.
A thick or discolored toenail may be caused by fungus—but not every abnormal-looking nail is fungal.
Heel pain may be plantar fasciitis—but heel pain can have other causes.
Burning, tingling or numbness may suggest neuropathy—but determining why those symptoms are occurring requires proper evaluation.
And a painful bunion or structural foot problem cannot be fully understood simply by looking at a photograph or entering symptoms into a computer.
That is where an experienced medical professional matters.
How We Approach Artificial Intelligence
We believe artificial intelligence can be valuable when used responsibly.
AI and other technologies may be used to assist with appropriate administrative, research, documentation, educational or practice-support functions.
AI does not independently diagnose our patients, replace a medical examination, or make the final decisions about a patient's treatment.
Clinical decisions remain the responsibility of the treating medical provider, who considers the individual patient, medical history, physical examination, diagnostic testing when appropriate, and professional clinical judgment.
Technology Should Support Medicine — Not Replace It
Dr. Roth has embraced advances in medicine throughout his career, from new diagnostic technologies and treatments to minimally invasive surgical techniques.
We believe AI should be approached the same way.
The question isn't whether technology should be used.
The question is who is making the medical decision.
At Concierge Podiatry & Spa, technology can provide information and support. The medical provider remains responsible for evaluating that information, examining the patient and determining the appropriate course of care.
Don't Guess at Your Diagnosis
It's easier than ever to search symptoms online, upload a photograph, or ask an AI system what might be wrong.
That information can be useful for education and for knowing when to seek care. But an AI-generated answer is not the same thing as being examined by an experienced medical professional.
This is particularly important when treatments are being considered.
Before you spend time and money treating a condition, make sure you're treating the right condition.
That's one of the reasons Concierge Podiatry & Spa places such an emphasis on personal evaluation and individualized treatment.
Real Patients. Real Doctors. Individualized Care.
Medicine is becoming more technologically sophisticated every year. We welcome advances that can help us provide better care.
But we don't believe better technology should mean less personal medicine.
At Concierge Podiatry & Spa, our philosophy is simple:
Use technology where it helps.
Use experience where it matters.
And keep the patient and medical provider at the center of every medical decision.
