A second-generation podiatrist and California native, Dr. Roth developed an interest in medicine at an early age. One of his greatest influences was his uncle, Dr. Harold "Chick" Weiner of Brooklyn, New York, whose career in medicine helped inspire Dr. Roth's own path.

After completing his undergraduate education at California State University, Fullerton, Dr. Roth moved to Chicago to attend the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine. He subsequently completed an intensive three-year residency in foot and ankle surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, where he trained under renowned podiatric surgeons including Dr. Lowell Weil and Dr. A.O. Mercado and ultimately served as Chief Resident. Dr. Roth later earned his Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Illinois.

Dr. Roth returned to Southern California and entered private practice in 1985. During his career, he became the first podiatric surgeon granted full surgical privileges at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach and served as Founding Chairman of the Podiatry Section at Hoag Hospital. He is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS).

His professional interests have extended well beyond the traditional podiatry practice. Dr. Roth formerly served as Medical Director for Ballet Pacifica, giving him a unique perspective on foot mechanics, performance and the demands placed on the feet of highly active patients. He has been involved with professional and advisory boards, provides consulting in medical technology and healthcare innovation, and serves as an expert medical witness, applying his decades of clinical and surgical experience to complex medical and legal matters.

Experience Meets Innovation

Throughout his career, Dr. Roth has maintained a strong interest in finding better ways to solve difficult foot and ankle problems.

Rather than adopting technology simply because it is new, he evaluates advances based on whether they can meaningfully improve patient care. His practice incorporates modern treatment technologies and minimally invasive techniques while maintaining a philosophy of conservative treatment whenever appropriate and surgery when necessary.

That philosophy is particularly important to Dr. Roth. Every patient is different, and two people with apparently similar conditions may require very different treatment plans. He believes in thoroughly evaluating the problem, discussing the available options and helping patients make informed decisions about their care.

The treatment should be selected for the patient—not the patient for the treatment.

A Career Rooted in Orange County

After four decades of caring for patients, Dr. Roth's connection to Orange County extends beyond his medical practice.

He has participated in professional, community and advisory organizations throughout his career and continues to consult with emerging medical and technology ventures. His interest in innovation keeps him engaged with new ideas both inside and outside medicine, while his forensic consulting and expert-witness work allow him to bring a surgeon's perspective to complicated medical questions.

Away from the office, Dr. Roth is also a longtime classic-car enthusiast and enjoys attending classic and collector car shows. It's an interest that fits him rather well: an appreciation for engineering, craftsmanship, attention to detail—and keeping something exceptionally well designed performing the way it should.

Dr. Roth’s compassion doesn’t stop at the office door. Over the years, he has rescued two Belgian Malinois—an extraordinarily intelligent and energetic breed not exactly known for being a casual house pet. Both needed a second chance, and both found a permanent home with Dr. Roth. Today, his dogs are an important part of his life outside the practice and a side of him that longtime patients and friends know especially well.

When he isn't seeing patients, working with medical and technology organizations, consulting on a case or wandering through a classic-car show, there's a good chance one of his dogs isn't very far away.

Forty Years—and Still Curious

In 2025, Dr. Roth marked 40 years in private practice.

Over those four decades, medicine has changed dramatically. Surgical techniques have evolved. New technologies have emerged. Treatments once considered standard have been replaced by better approaches.

Dr. Roth has continued to evolve with them.

What hasn't changed is his belief that excellent medical care begins with listening to the patient, understanding the problem and having enough experience to know when to intervene—and when not to.

Whether a patient is seeking another opinion, dealing with a problem that hasn't responded to previous treatment, considering surgery, or simply wants to understand why their foot hurts, Dr. Roth's objective is the same:
